Eagles vs. Rams: Highlights, game tracker and more
The Philadelphia Eagles faced the Los Angeles Rams on December 10 in Week 14 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are highlights from the game.
The biggest game of the week features the Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) traveling west to the face the Los Angeles Rams (9-2). Philadelphia had won nine games in a row before falling in Seattle last week. Fortunately for the Eagles, the NFC East has essentially been locked up for weeks. The Rams, meanwhile, continue to lead the NFC West but the aforementioned Seahawks are just one game behind. Both teams need a win as they continue to battle with the Minnesota Vikings for the top overall seed in the NFC and a first-round playoff bye.
The Rams and Eagles are two of the better offensive teams in the league. Philly is No. 4 in total offense, while the Rams rank No. 5. These two teams are actually tied for second in scoring offense, as both average 30.1 points per game. The biggest difference between these teams is Philadelphia also happens to have a terrific defense, too. The Eagles are the leagueβs top-ranked run defense as opponents average just 68.5 yards per game. Philadelphia is No. 3 in total defense and is led by an outstanding β and deep β defensive line.
One of the bigger storylines for Sundayβs game is the two quarterbacks. Los Angeles quarterback Jared Goff was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, while Philadelphia quarterback Carson Wentz was the second overall pick. Wentz was great as a rookie while Goff looked lost. Thanks in part to new head coach Sean McVay, Goff is playing like a former top overall pick this season. Wentz, of course, is playing like a league MVP.

One of the biggest matchups to watch is Los Angeles running back Todd Gurley against Phillyβs stout run defense. If Gurley has a big game on the ground, the Rams stand a much better chance of winning this game.
