Most Jets fans believe the Jets are in dire need of a No. 1 receiver, and they are. That said, with the right quarterback, Robby Anderson can become that guy. So, the Jets, after signing Kirk Cousins (a prediction) will get another receiver in the draft to play the slot. Cousins has shown an ability to make players better around him.

Hunter Renfrow is small. He’s listed at 5-10, 180 pounds on Walter Football’s wide receiver rankings, which would make him smaller than one of the smallest slot receivers in the NFL, Julian Edelman. With that said, Renfrow has shown a willingness and toughness going over the middle in college, and he has the hands, route running ability and quickness to play the position in the NFL.

Based on the grades from Pro Football Focus Elite, he’s among the best in college football in the slot. He’s tied for eighth in the nation in catch rate from the slot (75.8 percent). Renfrow is also only one of two slot receivers with a catch rate of over 75 percent while also having zero drops. Renfrow is what the Jets need from the slot, a sure-handed and precise route runner.
