Cleveland Browns: 3 Players Dorsey needs to draft to be AFC North contenders
New Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey has high aspirations for the 2018 season, but needs to target these draft prospects to compete in the AFC North.
New Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey has high aspirations for Hue Jackson and the 2018 team. Dorsey says expects his team to be competing for the AFC North title. While it may seem like a far-fetched dream, the Browns have major potential. Teams are built through the draft, and no team holds more picks in the first two rounds.
While it is unlikely Dorsey would keep all of those picks, there are a number of ways he can go. Contrary to popular belief and perhaps in the opinion of the new GM, the Brown’s don’t need a quarterback. They drafted Kizer in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft and, according to 247 Sports, Dorsey had him rated as his No. 4 QB.
If anything, fans have to learn to be patient and not only go by what they hear from analysts. Remember, at this time last year, Jared Goff was bust. Now he’s on the verge of clinching the NFC West with the Rams. If Dorsey wants a contender, he has to put the right pieces around his quarterback. That means a defense, offensive line, and another weapon outside.
The Browns will end up with the No. 1 overall pick, and they should look to unload it and hold off on picking a quarterback. Why? Because no matter who the player is, his potential will go untapped and talents wasted if his offensive line isn’t any good. With that said, the Browns may not seem like a North contender, but this is the NFL. So, here are three players that Dorsey should draft in the first two rounds if he wants to contend for the AFC North in 2018.
