The season is almost officially over for the New York Giants. It’s time to look to the future in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The New York Giants are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. They have fired their head coach and general manager, and their quarterback situation is a mess. The Giants also have other problems. Their defense could use some help. They need a more consistent running game, and their offensive line needs a left tackle.

Looking ahead, the Giants will need to find a general manager and head coach quickly in order to get free agency rolling and the draft process off the ground. The Giants top priority should be quarterback. Unlike their stadium-mates, they can fix enough of their holes in free agency to focus their draft efforts on the quarterback.

Co-owner John Mara said the Giants aren’t tanking and want to try and win all of their remaining games. That’s the right thing to say to the media, and frankly, no NFL team should tank. It’s too much of a gladiator sport to put the players out there to tank.

The Giants need to draft a quarterback to get the ball rolling on another championship run, because, despite their record, they are close enough to competing in the NFC East that they can go for the quarterback.
