No. 2 Need: Feature running back

The Giants offensive line is terrible, and that could be one reason the running game is also terrible. But good running backs can elevate their games when the offensive line doesn’t do their job or just isn’t an elite overall unit. So, the Giants go into the draft needing a feature back that can accomplish such a thing while they try and construct a more adequate offensive line.

Even though Orleans Darkwa has shown to be a decent option out of the backfield lately, they need someone more reliable. Darkwa is probably more of a Bilal Powell type — good enough to give you a big game once in a while, but not good enough to do it consistently. He’s a good complementary back, but unfortunately for the Giants, he’s not a feature back.

This draft is deep at the running back position, and despite the lessons the league has learned from Ezekiel Elliot and Todd Gurley, teams may be reluctant to take a running back in the first round. So, there may be a plethora of good ones at the top of the second round. The Giants should pounce on it right away as adding a quality running game to the mix would help their offense take a severely needed step forward.
