Sam Darnold is still a raw and unfinished product, and he may stay at the USC. If he comes out, he has more future upside than his Pac-12 counterpart, Josh Rosen. He probably should stay at USC to refine his game, but he may just want to move on.

Darnold has a few issues, and most of them are upstairs. He has “happy feet” and that causes some of his passes to be inaccurate. He has completed 63.7 percent of his passes, though. He also throws the ball with anticipation. He has the skills to be a good NFL quarterback. He just needs to settle down in the pocket and only escape when it’s absolutely necessary.

Giants fans may also start to be reminded of the early days of Tiki Barber when the Giants draft Darnold. Darnold had some turnover issues in 2017, but the most alarming wasn’t the interceptions. His six fumbles lost need to be cleaned up, because that was second most in the FBS.

Darnold is a work in progress. That said, he will become a good NFL quarterback. Giants fans will just have to live with a lot of growing pains.
