Josh Adams is one of the best backs in the country. If you follow the NFL Combine, and you see his 40-yard dash time, don’t be alarmed. He won’t time well in the 40 as a whole. That said, if you check out the splits, you will be able to see the key aspect of his game, his breakaway speed.

It’s going to be hard to compare Adams to anyone in the game today, because there are few with his combination of power and breakaway speed. He’s probably a combination of Ron Dayne and Reggie Bush. He can break tackles, but then get to another gear after getting to the second and third levels.

Adams has seven 60+ yard runs, and four of those went for 70+ yards. He averages 5.5 yards per carry after contact and has 948 yards after contact total on the season. His yards after contact would rank 42nd in the nation if they were his total rushing yards. There are 13 quarters in which he didn’t play this season, and Adams still is 11th in the nation in rushing with 1,337 yards. Adams also only accounted for 35 percent of the Notre Dame carries in 2017.

He’s not only a good back, but a great one. He will be on the Giants for a long time and will be a key contributor to a potential Super Bowl championship.
