Entering the 2017 season, Williams was considered almost on-par with Mike McGlinchey and could have challenged him for the top spot on the list of offensive tackles. Then, he was injured against USC and missed seven weeks. After playing in the final two games for Texas, he decided to forego the Longhorns’ bowl game to prepare for the NFL Draft.

After the 2017, scouts were giving him praise for his athletic ability, pass protection, and run protection. They considered him a high first round pick. Now, some people are saying he doesn’t have the strength to play tackle in the NFL and should move inside. There’s enough tape from last year to show what he’s capable of, but his injury this year limited his exposure.

There’s enough negativity for him to drop in the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s undoubtedly a first-round caliber talent, but injuries have a way of scaring teams (and it’s hard to fully blame them). That said, anyone who gets him on Day 2 will be getting a steal. He’s capable of being a franchise left tackle, and the Giants need to move Erick Flowers over to the right side. So, the Giants will fill a need here.
