1. Utilize Robby Anderson

There’s an old saying, “It ain’t no fun when the rabbit’s got the gun.” Well, in this case, the Jets are actually supposed to be the easy target lying down and losing to secure a draft pick. The gun will be behind center in green and white from now on, and they have an emerging speed threat on the outside in Robby Anderson.

According to his NFL.com Draft Profile, one of his key strengths is that he knows when to “use his fastball,” and when to lay the ball in easily. That’s key with Robby Anderson. Anderson is progressing nicely in 2017, and he showed a rapport with Petty toward the end of 2016 and through the 2017 preseason.

Petty will have to utilize that skill set with Anderson. He will have to hit Anderson downfield with touch, and zing it in and allow Anderson to run after the catch. Anderson will also have to continue his stellar play on deep balls. According to Pro Football Focus Elite, he hasn’t dropped a catchable ball all season on passes 20+ yards downfield.

How well they do together could be a harbinger of things to come. It could be the Petty-Anderson connection for years if they could show a great rapport with each other.
