The New York Jets aren’t mathematically eliminated from playoff contention in 2017, but a lot has to go right, but they can still effect the playoffs this weekend with a win.

The New York Jets are heading to New Orleans for the sixth time in franchise history. They are 3-2 in the Bayou, and they have vastly different results. Their three wins were all by a touchdown or less, and their two losses were by 14 in 2009 and 15 in 1989.

The Carolina Panthers are hosting the Green Bay Packers, and Aaron Rodgers is making his return from a broken collarbone, and the Atlanta Falcons are heading to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers. If the Jets win against the Saints, they can knock the Saints into second place in the NFC South with a win.

Knocking the Saints out of the division lead means they would have to play three consecutive road games to make it to the Super Bowl. The Saints have an amazing home field advantage. So, getting that first playoff game at home could spark the momentum of run to Minneapolis.

The Jets are starting Bryce Petty in Week 15, and there’s one common thing said among his teammates. He commands the huddle well. According to Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post, both center Wesley Johnson and wider receiver Jermaine Kearse had great things to see about the young signal caller.

Wesley Johnson said:

"He’s great in the huddle, great in the locker room. He works hard. He prepares like a starter every week. I’m not worried about him at all."

Kearse had this to say:

"His energy is high. His presence in the huddle is there. He has the ability to make tough throws and be able to extend the play. I think that’s one thing that’s going to come in handy for us."

That enthusiasm and vigor can be infectious, and the Jets have played well against the better teams in the NFL this season. That will translate into some big plays and a win down in New Orleans.
