The Denver Broncos defeated the Indianapolis Colts, 25-13, on Thursday Night Football, improving their record to 5-9. Here are three key takeaways from that game.

After losing eight-straight games, the Denver Broncos figured out how to reel off two victories in a row. Denver is trying to finish their season on a high-note, and hopefully, transition some of their momentum into the 2018 season. The Indianapolis Colts were first to put points on the board, when Jacoby Brissett scored on a seven yard touchdown run to give the Colts a 7-0 lead going into the second quarter.

Indianapolis continued to put up points, when they drove down the field and scored on a 45-yard Adam Vinatieri field goal. The Broncos answered back with a 5 minute and 14 second drive that netted a Brock Osweiler 18-yard touchdown run. The touchdown cut into the Colts’ lead, making the score 10-7 going into halftime.

The Colts opened the third quarter with a 39-yard Adam Vinatieri field goal. A few minutes later, Brock Osweiler drove the Broncos down the field and connected with Cody Latimer for a 22-yard touchdown pass to give Denver the lead, 14-13. The Broncos scored again before the end of the quarter, when Osweiler threw a 54-yard touchdown strike to Jeff Heuerman.

Denver struck the final nail in the coffin late in the fourth quarter, when Brandon McManus kicked a 40-yard field goal to give the Broncos the 25-13 victory.

Someone had to win this game. There were just seven wins between the two teams going into this game and it’s safe to say that neither team has a shot at making the playoffs. The Broncos extend their winning streak to two, and move their draft slot back a few spots in the process for next April’s NFL Draft.

The Colts could’ve won this game, but things went downhill for them in the second half. With that being said, here are three takeaways from Thursday night’s game.
