C Weston Richburg

In this situation, there’s no particular reason for Weston Richburg to bail. There’s also no reason for the Giants to get rid of one of the best centers in the NFL. However, with his contract about to expire, the open market may provide too many opportunities for the 26-year-old.

Realistically, Richburg is scheduled to be one of the best available offensive linemen this offseason. Especially with the lack of elite blocking in today’s NFL, you better believe teams will be opening their wallets for the Giants’ starting center. That is, even after a concussion limited his 2017 season to only four appearances.

Richburg, a 2014 second-round pick, has developed into a star over the last four seasons. Although he has yet to earn any Pro Bowl nods at this point in his career, there’s no denying he’s a quality starter capable of anchoring any offensive line throughout the league. Now it’s just a matter of determining which one that’ll be in 2018.

One way or another, expect Richburg to be playing elsewhere next season. There’s too much turmoil in the Big Apple, and too many teams willing to dish out massive contracts for quality blockers.

He had a good run in New York, but Richburg will find out if the grass is greener come March.
