The New York Giants need to draft the heir apparent to Eli Manning in the upcoming NFL Draft. Josh Rosen is the best and most NFL-ready of those likely to declare in 2018.

Josh Rosen has the arm, the brain, and the accuracy to play in the NFL. He’s ready to come out of school early and play in the NFL, and will almost certainly do so as one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2018 NFL Draft. His ability to work under center is also key, as most college offense play a majority of snaps in shotgun.

Rosen’s size is also a plus. From a physical standpoint, Rosen checks all the boxes NFL scouts want in a quarterback. However, as the New York Giants look for the man to take over for Eli Manning, it’s important to note the problems with the UCLA quarterback. The problems with Rosen aren’t all physical.

According to Walter Football:

"Teams also have some concerns about his intangibles and durability."

That’s a problem, because one of those intangibles is leadership. Quarterbacks need to be good leaders. The second concern of durability should raise a lot of eyebrows.

The Giants and Browns have the first two picks in the Draft, and one of them will likely select him. Both teams have offensive line issues, which could make him a sitting duck. If they don’t drastically improve their offensive lines, he might not make it beyond his rookie deal, due to injury.

Grade: Top 5 pick

This grade is purely based on talent, and he will likely go to the Browns or Giants. He’s the most NFL-ready of all the top quarterbacks in the 2018 draft. That said, there’s one glaring red flag on his résumé, injuries.

The NFL is a violent sport, and one hit can end anyone’s career. The problem is exacerbated when someone comes into the NFL with an injury history, which Rosen will. His limited mobility will leave him vulnerable in the pocket. He’s a top-five talent, with a lot of risk. He’s a high risk, high reward prospect.
