New York Giants vs. Arizona Cardinals

Neither the New York Giants nor Arizona Cardinals are headed to the playoffs next month. But there’s still a game to play this week at University of Phoenix Stadium and Bruce Arians’ team can still salvage a .500 season.

It’s been ultimately a year to forget with injuries to stars on both sidelines in this matchup on Sunday in Week 16. Having said that, there’s always the ever-present need to look for something to build on moving forward.

What should we expect on Sunday in the desert?

Keys to Victory

If the Arizona offense can take care of the football on Sunday, their chances of success grow significantly. Yes, that sounds pretty obvious. But it’s made more possible by the fact that the Giants came up with 25 takeaways a season ago and this year have forced only 14 turnovers in as many games.

Add in the fact that no team in the league has allowed more total yards per game and the New York pass rush has produced only 22 sacks and a so-so Cardinals offense should take advantage of interim head coach/defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s woeful unit.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Cardinals (-3.5)

Moneyline: Giants -110, Cardinals -110

Over/Under: 40

Prediction

The New York Giants have been one of the biggest disaster stories of 2017. This week, they have made headlines as they search for a new general manager. On the field, Big Blue is in the midst of a four-game losing streak and still haven’t won a game within the conference (0-10). That includes three double-digit losses to NFC West teams (by a combined score of 106-45).

As for the Arizona Cardinals, head coach Bruce Arians will go back to quarterback Drew Stanton this week. This is a team that more was expected of as well but major injuries derailed some of those hopes. In any case, the Cards are ready to deal the Giants another loss.

Final Score: Arizona Cardinals: 23, New York Giants: 6
