ATLANTA, GA - DECEMBER 07: Tevin Coleman

With Tevin Coleman cleared to play on Sunday in Week 16, a dynamic Atlanta Falcon offense just gained another weapon.

The Atlanta Falcons will have a key weapon at their disposal when they take on the New Orleans Saints in what should be an exciting matchup. Running back Tevin Coleman cleared the concussion protocol Friday according to head coach Dan Quinn and will be ready to roll for Sunday.

On the season, Coleman has carried the ball 139 times for 593 yards and five touchdowns. He has proven to be a tremendous asset behind starter Devonta Freeman and the two have formed one of the best running back duos in all of football.

Coleman’s best game of the year came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Nov. 26. In that contest, he rushed the ball 19 times for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Coleman has also proven to be a reliable pass-catcher. He has snagged 21 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns on the campaign.

With Coleman out last week, Freeman had his best game of the season. He rushed the ball 22 times for 126 yards and a touchdown. For Freeman, that was his second 100-yard rushing game of the season.

This is great news for the Falcons. They need all hands on deck as they take on a dynamic Saints offense that includes Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara at the running back position. Throughout the course of the season, Coleman has given the Falcons the luxury of letting Freeman rest, particularly throughout the later stages of a game. The way he runs allows the Falcons to get a consistent level of production no matter who is in the backfield. That is difficult to find in today’s NFL.

Consistent production will be the name of the game Sunday for the Falcons as they try to prove to the Saints among others that they are the kings of the NFC South.
