Bills vs. Patriots: Highlights, game tracker and more

The Buffalo Bills faced the New England Patriots on December 24 in Week 16 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are highlights from the game.

With last week’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New England Patriots (11-3) clinched the AFC East for the ninth consecutive season and the 14th time in 15 seasons. Now, the Patriots look to clinch home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs yet again but the Buffalo Bills (8-6) stand in their way.

In head coach Sean McDermott’s first year as head coach of Buffalo, it’s been, overall, a pretty good year. The Bills have stayed in the thick of the AFC playoff race and have done it with very little help from the offense and the quarterback position, specifically. Tyrod Taylor has had some good moments under center this season, unfortunately, he’s been unable to take the offense to another level. The Bills lack of weapons in the passing game is another issue and the acquisition of wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin has yet to make a difference.

Running back LeSean McCoy is having another strong season. McCoy is No. 5 in the NFL in rushing yards with 1,057 yards on the ground. He also leads the team in receiving with 52 receptions. The next closest player has 39 catches.

New England’s win over Pittsburgh last week could be a preview of the AFC Championship Game once again. Tom Brady had another big game and Rob Gronkowski returned to the lineup after being suspended one game and had a huge performance. Gronkowski could be in line for another big game on Sunday afternoon.

These teams met just weeks ago and that’s why Gronkowski was suspended in the first place. His cheap shot of rookie cornerback Tra’Davious White will certainly make him a marked man on Sunday. These teams, already bitter division rivals, now have another level of intrigue added to this one.
