The Atlanta Falcons clinched a playoff berth in Week 17 thanks to a big win over the Carolina Panthers. Here are three dominant defensive stats from the game.

The Atlanta Falcons found a way to beat the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon, in turn, clinching themselves a spot in the NFC Playoffs and a date next Saturday with the Los Angeles Rams. Everyone wanted to see how the Dirty Birds would respond to blowing a 25-point lead in Super Bowl 51, and it looks as though they’ve answered the call perfectly.

They may not have won the division, but going 10-6 after losing Kyle Shanahan is something Atlanta fans should be proud of. There were some definite low-points in the 2017 season for the Falcons, but they stuck together and fought back into the NFC Playoffs for the second-straight season.

With that said, I believe it’s only right to give this Atlanta defense the props it deserves. This franchise has struggled to piece together a great defense since Thomas Dimitroff took over as GM, but this 2017 unit carried this football team to the playoffs.

That’s right, I said it. Without this top ten defense, the Falcons would be packing their bags for the offseason right now.

Needless to say, Week 17 against the Panthers was no different for Atlanta. Take a look at three dominating defensive stats, that were huge factors in helping emerge victorious over Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
