Josh Sitton and Bobby Massie, OL (Total Savings = $13.6 million)

If the Bears want Trubisky to succeed, they need to revamp the offensive line. There are a couple of players who the Bears must look at to save some money. The first one is Josh Sitton.

I like Sitton. He had a Pro Bowl season last year after the Green Bay Packers cut him. This season, however, he missed three games. This is not a good sign for a lineman. who turns 32 before next season begins. This could be the start of his body breaking down. Even if you don’t think that’s what’s happening, I don’t think the Bears take that $8 million gamble. They’ve already had trouble with injured linemen and don’t want more injury trouble. The Bears need to part ways with Sitton.

The other lineman who needs to go is Bobby Massie.

Boy, oh boy, where to start with Massie? The Bears struggled with their tackles. We cannot do anything about Charles Leno except to move him over to right tackle. He signed an extension during the season so like it or not he’s staying. Perhaps the move helps him. Massie was pretty much a turnstile on the right side. Too many times rushers blew past him on the outside. Also, a little move to the inside seems to confuse him.

Like Glennon, Massie has a buyout. I think Pace takes that buyout and moves Leno over to the right side. Then goes out and gets a left tackle. The offense cannot afford to have Leno continue to protect Trubisky’s blindside.
