Football is the ultimate team game in sports. Most players can have great games once in a while, but, generally, everyone has to do their jobs consistently for most players to live up to their potential. Dorance Armstrong Jr.’s performance is very indicative of that.

In 2016, he had 10 sacks, three forced fumbles, 20 tackles for loss, and 56 total tackles. In 2017, those numbers diminished. He went from 10 sacks to two, and 20 tackles for loss to 9.5. His total tackle and forced fumbles increased a little bit, but not at the same rate as the sacks and tackles for loss went down. So, why did the numbers go down?

The answer can is as simple as the talent around him getting worse. He’s still the same fast and athletic pass rusher he was in 2016. He has the moves to become a good or great edge rusher in the NFL too. Don’t get paralyzed by the drop in numbers though. He was constantly getting double-teamed, and he was the focus of offenses all around the Big 12.

If the Jets draft him, they can play him behind Leonard Williams. He will then get less attention, and he will get to show off his skills. He’s the edge presence the Jets need.
