Based on the history of the New York Giants shows that Matt Patricia would be the perfect coach for the team in 2018.

The NFL began in 1920, and the New York Giants became a franchise in 1925. In 1927, behind former offensive lineman Steve Owen, the Giants finished with the league’s best record and were awarded the NFL Championship.

Beginning in the 1933 NFL season, the NFL split into two conferences, and began playing a championship game. Unfortunately for the Giants, they became a franchise that just couldn’t close the deal. They went to 14 NFL Championship Games. They only won three. Then they went into the doldrums.

In the beginning of the Super Bowl Era, the Giants didn’t do much. They only finished above .500 three times and only made the playoffs once. Then Bill Parcells became the Giants head coach, and changed the fortunes of the franchise. In his eight seasons as head coach, the Giants finished above .500 five times. They would go on to win two Super Bowls and finished 127-77.

From 1991-2003, the Giants only made the playoffs four times, and lost the Super Bowl. Then, they hired a Bill Parcells disciple, Tom Coughlin. Then in his first eight years they went to the playoffs five times with two Super Bowl wins.

The NFL has gone offensive, and the Giants tried to break franchise history. They tried to go with Ben McAdoo because of his offensive background. It blew up in their faces, and they had no choice but to fire him.

Now there have been searching for the right head coach to replace him. And according to multiple reports on Wednesday morning, they may have found him in current Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia.

Matt Patricia’s defensive background makes him perfect for the Giants, as they have won five out their seven NFL Championships/Super Bowls with coaches that have a background in defense. Their four Super Bowls were won by the Bill Parcels tree, and Patricia comes from New England and Bill Belichick who was the Giants defensive coordinator for their to Super Bowls under Parcells.

Patricia is a coach with a defensive background. He’s also from the coaching tree of Bill Belichick who is from the Parcells tree. Many people have linked Belichick to the Giants job, and Patricia would be that perfect link.
