Minnesota Vikings: 3 Takeaways from Divisional Round win over Saints
By Derek Snyder
The Minnesota Vikings shocked the world with their late-game heroics against the New Orleans Saints. Here are three takeaways from the game.
We all knew that the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints Divisional Round match-up would be a great game, but little did we know it would turn out to be one for the ages. With only 25 seconds left, the Vikings went 75 yards on four plays to beat the Saints, 29-24. Trust me, I think we’re all still trying to comprehend what just happened.
Going into halftime, it looked like the Saints were going to coast into the sunset of the 2018 offseason, as they were down 17-0; however, thanks to three touchdowns passes from Drew Brees in the second-half, New Orleans got back in the game and actually took the lead 24-23.
As we all know, the rest is history.
Call me overdramatic, call me crazy, but that may have been one of the craziest endings to a postseason football game since the Pittsburgh Steelers “Immaculate Reception”. We’ve seen a ton of great plays to get in a last-second field goal, but rarely have we ever seen something so dramatic as Stefon Diggs’ 61-yard touchdown at the buzzer.
All I can say, is congratulations to Mike Zimmer and Case Keenum. Those two guys have been in some tough places in this league before, and now they’re one game away from Super Bowl LII. With that said, here are three takeaways from the Vikings incredible victory over the Saints on Sunday night.
