Albert Wilson (5-9, 200 pounds)

Albert Wilson is someone the Bears sign if they cannot come to an agreement with Wright. They have similar body build and game. Wilson had 42 catches for 554 yards. He had a higher yards-per-catch average than Wright (13.2 to 10.4) and had more touchdown catches (3 to 1). Additionally, Wilson is younger than Wright.

Wilson is a tough receiver who doesn’t shy away from contact. He runs good routes and is dependable in the slot. According to Pro Football Focus Elite, Wilson caught 19 of his 28 targets for 296 yards with one touchdown in the slot. He is best on the inside, but he could also make some plays on the outside.

A big advantage for Wilson is his understanding of head coach  Matt Nagy’s offensive system playing in Kansas City. If Nagy needs a player who can talk to the other players about what Nagy’s system entails, Wilson is that player. The others don’t have to worry about “coach speak” and get a player’s understanding of what needs to be done.

The Bears have a big decision on Wright. Obviously, they can’t franchise him, but once he hits the open market, someone might fall in love with him and offer him a nice big contract. With the need for playmakers, the Bears can’t throw a bunch of money at him. Wilson is a good replacement.
