Free Agency

To be frank, the Giants are in complete rebuilding mode. They’re going to have to tear this team down, and settle in free agency in 2018. They don’t have enough cap space to sign big name or even some of their own players.

For the Giants, it’ll be about finding role players in free agency and building the foundation from scratch in the draft. Their defense is getting older, but they need an overhaul on offense. The only offensive player worth re-signing is Orleans Darkwa, and that’s because he came on late.

Even with his late surge, they’re going to need to find help. They may need to trade out of the number two over all draft pick to accumulate picks in order to make this rebuild work. Gettleman is 66, and this is going to be a long rebuild. Giants fans need to be patient. Even in the NFC East, where the turnover at the top is constant, the Giant may be mired in the basement of the NFC East for a couple of seasons (including 2017).

They have a way out, but it’s not going to be quick or painless. Get ready for a long and tough road ahead in the near future.
