Here’s where Gettleman will make his mark. Gettleman is going to get a guy here that may be a reach to some, but after Gettleman does his homework, he will be finding a perfect slot guy for the Giants offense.

After the Giants snag Josh McDaniels, they will need a Wes Welker or Julian Edelman-type slot receiver. Coutee is their guy. He spent 93.7 percent of his time as a slot receiver in the offense at Texas Tech. He had a drop rate (per Pro Football Focus Elite) of 8.9 percent, but when you get 95 targets you’re going to drop a couple. That said, according to Pro Football Focus, his total yards from the slot (1,088), yards per route run (2.8), and catch rate (75.8%) were all excellent.

The Giants need another weapon to go alongside Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard. The combination of Shepard, OBJ, Coutee and Evan Engram will be a tough group to stop. It will become a pick your poison offense, and teams won’t be able to key on OBJ, because all four would can have 1,000-yard seasons.

New York has found their Julian Edelman, and this will help the quarterback get the ball out quicker as they build their offensive line.
