1. Tre Boston

There were some questions regarding the Chargers free safety spot heading into 2017, but it seems as though Tre Boston has locked it up for the near future. After being cut by the Carolina Panthers, no one knew what to expect out of the hard-hitting defender, but he proved the haters wrong by becoming one of the Chargers best defensive backs this past season.

Boston finished the year with five interceptions, eight passes-defended and 56 total tackles. Needless to say, the former Tar Heels standout gave Los Angeles every reason to sign him back for 2018.

Even with the potential of the Bolts drafting a defensive back in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, I believe it’s definitely worth signing Boston to a 3-4 year deal. At only 25-years-old, the Chargers would be getting Boston in his prime, which will be vital for this franchise’s fight to get back to the AFC Playoffs.

Each one of the four conference championship teams this season had extremely deep secondaries, full of players who are ballhawks. Trust me, there’s no coincidence that those were the four best teams in the NFL this year.

If the Chargers want to stay serious about competing for a Lombardi Trophy, they need to find a way to re-sign Tre Boston.
