The Dallas Cowboys 2017 rookie class had some up and down moments for their first year in the NFL, but here’s the final verdict on their first years.

At times, the Dallas Cowboys rookie class of 2017 might have made you scratch your head, but for the most part the rookies played well and showed potential as far as what they can become in the ensuing seasons with this franchise.

Second-round draft pick, cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, should be viewed as a success for his overall play and the way he battled through injuries in his rookie campaign. Taco Charlton — the first-round pick — showed his potential at times as well.

Awuzie showed great signs of what he’s capable of achieving, especially doing so while facing a lingering hamstring injury. Awuzie played in 10 games last season, starting six of them. Charlton played in all 16 games, but made no starts, as he learned on the fly for the Cowboys.

Another rookie standout was Jourdan Lewis, who played in 15 games, made seven starts in his first year in the NFL. Ryan Switzer also played in 16 games this past season, making his mark on special teams.

In all, there are 12 rookies listed on the Cowboys’ official roster, and though not all of them will return next season, at least in their first year with the Cowboys they showed not only what they are capable of, but provided some big moments to build on for future seasons.

Here is a look at how the Cowboys’ rookies (listed in alphabetical order) performed on the field and a look into what they can achieve next season as the franchise looks to regroup, improve on their 9-7 record and possibly get back to the playoffs after missing it this season.
