Dallas Cowboys: 2017 Rookie Review
Jourdan Lewis, CB
Of course there were some issues with Jourdan Lewis this season for the Dallas Cowboys, but being he was a third-round pick with first- to second-round talent, the Cowboys drafted a player who did give them seven starts and action in 15 games this past season.
Lewis might have given up some points to the opposition in his rookie season, but at times he showed he’s capable of playing an important role in the Cowboys defensive backfield as his career continues to progress.
For the 2017 season, Lewis totaled 48 tackles, 10 passes defensed and one interception, with that coming in Week 1 against the Washington Redskins. In each game for the 2017 season, Lewis recorded at least one sack, and the most tackles he collected was in Week 12 against the Giants where he had five. The following week against the Oakland Raiders, Lewis had four tackles.
Lewis might not have stood out on the national stage for his entire rookie season, but he showed improvement at times, and he’s growing into being a solid contributor to the rebuilding of the Cowboys’ secondary. Like with all young players, patience is key, and that will be the case with Lewis moving forward.
