The 2018 New York Jets will look very different from the 2017 version of the team, and at key positions. Predicting the starters for next season.

The New York Jets are looking to rebound off of their 5-11 season. They hope that 2018 is the beginning of their playoff contention. They haven’t had a team consistently go to the playoffs ever.  However, they can change that this offseason. And I have some predictions as to how that will go.

The Jets will make some splashes in free agency. In addition to that, they will surprise people in the NFL Draft. They won’t take a quarterback. 2018 will be Christian Hackenberg’s season. He will get the opportunity to not lose the job of starting quarterback.

Fans and media like to read between the lines and guess what things mean. However, they are wrong about Hackenberg. They are also wrong about the upcoming draft. The Jets don’t “need” to draft a quarterback. What they do need to do is draft properly and get pieces around a future franchise quarterback. Whether that’s Hackenberg or the man they draft in 2019 (if Hackenberg doesn’t pan out), only time will be able to answer that.

2018 will be the beginning of the sense that the Jets will be around for a while. The Patriots dynasty is nearing an end. The Bills have to answer a quarterback mess of their own, and the Dolphins are in flux.

Who will start for the Jets in 2018? Let’s take a look.
