New York Jets: 2018 Offseason predictions, 7-round mock draft, Vol. 2.0
Free agency
The next step is free agency. The NFL is the only league that has it’s free agency before its draft, and that makes sense, because then you can go into the draft knowing what you need. After all the wheeling and dealing, the Jets could have between $75 million and $80 million to spend. So, they can be a big player in free agency and become contenders in 2018.
According to Ethan Greenberg of NewYorkJets.com, Woody Johnson expect the team to build through the draft, but use free agency and trades also on a limited basis.
"We’ll use the draft primarily and we’ll use free agency judiciously, trading and the rest of it. But mostly through the draft."
This is the time to use free agency to build that defense. The Jets have a lot of holes to fill, and it would be prudent to fill the holes defense with free agency and maybe plug some holes on offense, especially since the incident in Florida with Robby Anderson.
The 2018 NFL Draft
This draft is crucial for the futures of both Mike Maccagnan and Todd Bowles. This draft will set the course of the future. It must continue to move forward, if not, they will be looking for new men before their contracts are up in 2020.
