Free Agent Target: Andrew Norwell

The Carolina Panthers have only approximately $12.6 million in cap space (before roster cuts) heading into the 2018 offseason, and it will be difficult to pick up some of their higher priced free agent contracts. Norwell will be one of those contracts.

The Jets had a huge problem with the interior of their offensive line in 2017. According to Pro Football Focus Elite, they allowed 101 pressures, and according to Football Outsiders, the interior offensive linemen were only responsible for 3.75 yards per carry.

Pro Football Focus gave Norwell a grade of 88.8, and he’s the highest lineman on their top free agents list. He was also the only lineman to have 500 snaps as a pass blocker and not allow a sack or hit in 2017, and according to Mark Chichester of PFF he’s only the fourth guard in the NFL to do that since 2006, when they started tracking that.

It would be an instant upgrade for the Jets offensive line, and they could use as much help as possible. With a new offensive line coach coming in, now is the perfect time to completely revamp the unit. This would limit the hits and sacks on Christian Hackenberg, and that would be perfect.
