New York Jets: 2018 Offseason predictions, 7-round mock draft, Vol. 2.0
Adams is a bruiser, and that’s evident in his 5.6 yards per carry after contact 96 yards after contact per game in 2017. However, he can also his the second gear. That’s evident in his seven runs of 60 or more yards in 2017. So, he’s not only going to run over a defender that’s trying to tackle him, but he will run by the defenders that are behind that tackle attempt.
As Samuel Sutton wrote in his piece on The Jet Press, Elijah McGuire does deserve more playing time in 2018.
"McGuire successfully showed that he could find running lanes with ease this season. He had 315 rushing yards with a touchdown on 88 carries in 2017, which averages to 3.6 yards per attempt. He also had 177 receiving yards and a touchdown reception."
In today’s NFL, though, that doesn’t mean what it did in the days of running backs like Emmitt Smith, Jim Brown or O.J. Simpson. It’s about how the team does at running the football, not necessarily about the performance of one feature back.
The team of McGuire and Adams can give the Jets a thunder and lightning type of attack, especially with the offensive line upgrades.
