Cut: Muhammad Wilkerson

Wilkerson’s act has worn thin with the fans, media, and the team. It’s time to remove the cancer from the locker room once and for all. They waited too long to move on from Sheldon Richardson, but with a young team that has shown signs of blossoming, it’s time to move on now.

More from New York Jets

The Jets will owe Wilkerson $20 million if he’s on the roster as of March 16. So, the Jets have two options. Find a trade partner and work out a deal, or cut him on the first day of the new league year. Cutting him will save the Jets 55 percent ($11 million) of his 2018 salary and will help them open the books for free agency.

Frankly, after his lack of performance coupled with his behavior, he no longer fits on the roster. He doesn’t fit with the attitude that head coach Todd Bowles is trying to instill on this roster. It’s time for the Jets and him to part ways, and it might be the wakeup call he needs to keep his NFL career going. He’s also hurt way too often to be an effective player, which may mean it will lean more toward cut rather than trade.
