As the 2018 NFL Draft approaches, there are some prospects that the New York Jets need to steer clear of for issues on and off the field.

The New York Jets are in a position to use the 2018 NFL Draft as a springboard to the Super Bowl. Just look at the Philadelphia Eagles. From 2010-16 they used the draft that built the roster that led them to a Super Bowl title.

When you look at the Eagles roster, 12 of their 22 starters listed there were drafted from 2010-16. Looking at their Super Bowl starters, nine of them were drafted by the Eagles in that time frame.

If last year was the beginning for the Jets, then it could be a sign of good things to come in the draft, but it must continue in 2018. Here are the players they shouldn’t draft, though.

3. Minkah Fitzpatrick

The problem with Fitzpatrick isn’t skill set or off the field issues for the Jets. It’s where they play him. To be frank, he’s probably not a good fit at cornerback for the Jets, and neither of their safeties would be good fits for the move either.

The position change would mean a lot of work for Fitzpatrick, even though he played some corner in college. His skills lend him to more of a safety role for the Jets. A first round pick should be a starter and not a role player, and that’s what he’d become if the Jets drafted him. He’d be a rotational safety with Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye.
