The New York Jets have big opportunities abound in 2018 NFL Free Agency, but some big-name players should be avoided by Gang Green.

The New York Jets have said that they want to build primarily through the draft. However, this year is the year to start using free agency “judiciously”, as Woody Johnson said.

In 2018 NFL free agency, the Jets have enough cap space to take on some hefty deals, but that doesn’t mean they should just go after every star.

There are a few players to avoid, and here are three.

3. Jimmy Graham

Graham had an excellent season for the Seattle Seahawks in 2017. He had fourth double-digit  touchdown season of his career.

There are two problems, he had the third highest drop rate of all tight ends who played in at least half of their team’s snaps, and it was a contract year for him. He did finish the season with 57 catches, 520 yards, and 10 touchdowns in 730 snaps. That said, he also had limited production in the last two seasons. In 1,364 snaps, he averaged 68 catches and had eight total touchdowns.

The Jets have had tight end issues, but Graham may not be the answer. When a player plays poorly for two seasons, and then suddenly plays well in the year before free agency, it’s scary. The Jets should avoid Graham.
