Trade: Jets trade No. 6 pick to Cardinals for Nos. 15, 47 picks

The Jets will not stay at the No. 6 pick. Last offseason, Maccagnan showed us his M.O. in the draft. He will do it again in 2018. Expect the Jets to trade down and accumulate more picks. They have a perfect trade partner too, the Cardinals.

The Cardinals need a quarterback, and the top of the draft will feature one they want. So, the Jets will trade the No. 6 overall pick and acquire the Cardinals No. 15 and No. 47 overall picks. So, now the Jets will have picks 15, 37, 47, and 49. That’s certainly enough to keep building the roster.

This draft provides some perfect symmetry for the Jets. The last time they had a first round pick, and needed a center, they went with Ohio State center Nick Mangold, and they got a center who would turn out to be the league’s top center for a long time.

Price can provide the Jets with some long-term stability at the position. While he’s not the most athletic of centers, he’s smart and strong. He’s capable of handling the bigger of the nose tackles, and with more teams playing an odd front on defense, that’s a key ability. Center is one of the most important positions and getting one in the first round means they’re getting a top-notch player at the position.
