New York Jets: 7-Round 2018 mock draft in mid-February
Chubb’s 2015 knee injury will hurt his draft stock a little bit, but fans shouldn’t be leery. Chubb is the running back the Jets need to get to the next level and running behind the combination of guys they get in free agency and the draft will only help Chubb early in his NFL career.
When we talk about the “Legion of Boom,” we generally think of the Seahawks great secondary, but that had strong guys up front and Marshawn Lynch running behind them. Having a guy like Chubb will only make the quarterback’s job a lot easier.
He’s strong and is tough to bring down. He also can find the hole quickly and burst through it. When he gets to the second level, watch out, because he can burn by guys.
In 2017, he also showed he’s a capable pass catcher, even though he still needs work. He only had 13 total catches prior to this past season, but had 18 in 2017. The Jets don’t necessarily need a three-down back though. Because of his power and speed combination, Chubb can provide a thunder and lightning type combination with Elijah McGuire, and they can also be on the field at the same time. That can provide the offense with a lot more options than they had in 2017.
