Eight current NFL players who were Huskies were drafted in the first three rounds. Now, they will add another.

All three Jets defensive linemen upfront are lined up as interior linemen. They have some similar skills of defensive ends by guys like Muhammad Wilkerson and Leonard Williams are more like hybrid defensive ends/defensive tackles. The expectations should be to be able to get some sacks and stop the run, but not necessarily the double-digit sacks of the edge rushers. That’s where a player like Fatukasi comes in.

In the NFL, if you can play in multiple positions, that adds to your draft stock, even if you’re a raw player like Fatukasi. He can play nose tackle, defensive tackle or 3-4 defensive end. He has a few weaknesses, according to his NFL.com profile. That said, he also has a lot of upside, and considering he’s a raw talent can grow with the right coaching in the NFL.

Frankly, the Jets need to get Wilkerson out as soon as possible. They can’t make the mistake of holding on to a disruptive player for too long like they did with Sheldon Richardson. Fatukasi is a good replacement for Wilkerson in the scheme.
