The All-Star game circuit is over and the NFL Scouting Combine a few weeks away, it’s time for another snapshot of what the Cleveland Browns could do in the pivotal 2018 NFL Draft.

Since the Cleveland Browns weren’t bogged down by coaching the Senior Bowl, hopefully they were able to maximize the benefit as an onlooker from the stands, because the field this year was pretty impressive. Combining that with those from other All-Star games, the Browns had plenty of opportunities to talk to players and see them in practices as they worked to fill out their coaching staff, hiring Todd Haley as the team’s offensive coordinator.

The interview process is the most important and uniquely valuable in these settings. Players aren’t coached up as much by agents, so they are more likely to give less prepared, more honest answers, for better or worse.

The other benefit of the All-Star games, at least for some players, is seeing them in different roles than they had in college, which might showcase something they’d never done before and looking good doing it. That was the case this year as a few different players really shined in some different roles and that could impact how teams view them.

The scouting combine will change things as testing data, more interviews and ultimately medical data start to become available to teams. Additionally, free agency will enter the picture in the next few weeks, which could change the landscape of the Browns in the 2018 NFL Draft, though it seems unlikely. Nevertheless, with more data as well as simply getting to analyze more prospects, adding more viable players to the conversation for the Browns.
