The New York Jets are poised to be in the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes, and if they are, they should focus their 2018 NFL Drraft efforts on defense.

The New York Jets seem to be going all-in on the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes. It’s a 50-50 move that may backfire, but it may be worth the risk, especially if it brings them a Super Bowl Championship.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, the Jets are going for Cousins:

"The game plan: It’s simple: Get Cousins. The Jets want him badly, and sources say they’re willing to pay whatever it takes — unless the Washington Redskins decide to tag him for a third time (unlikely)."

If that’s the case, they should go all-in on the offensive side of the ball in free agency. They should set a goal for three offensive linemen and a No. 1 wide receiver along with Cousins. That leaves the focus of the 2018 NFL Draft to be defense. Yes, another draft where the focus is on the defensive side of the ball.

It also means the Jets have options on the defensive side they didn’t have before. it also means they can take a running back earlier, if they so choose, but still focus on defense.

Let’s examine the draft with this new option.
