New York Jets: 7-Round 2018 mock draft if Kirk Cousins signs
Warren is undoubtedly a running back who scout will give a look to pick up in the later rounds. At 6-4, 250 pounds, though, he’s going to have to shed some weight.
That said, he’s got some skills that make him a viable candidate as a third running back for the Jets. In addition to that, with new offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates, he can be used as an H-back for pass catching downs.
Losing weight and adding speed should be the priority for Warren in the offseason. If he does that, he can become a goal line/short yardage option along with J.T. Barrett. The Jets would be able to use the pair in the short yardage situations so defenses wouldn’t know who to target as the primary runner.

The Jets need options on offense, because right now they are devoid of variety. Warren gives them plenty of options in ways to use him. There’s no harm in using a seventh round pick on a guy like Warren to bring him into camp and see what he can bring to the table. Having a guy like Warren, who can play multiple positions, and be used in multiple ways only helps the offense and doesn’t cause a detriment.
