In previous mock drafts, I had the Jets moving down to accumulate picks. However, in this one they have settled a lot of their issues on offense and will start to fill up their defense. The Jets are in dire need of a consistent pass rusher at linebacker. It will help their defensive front get to the quarterback from the interior. It will help their back-end in coverage, and it will funnel the running game back to the defensive interior as well. That’s where Edmunds comes in.

Edmunds played outside linebacker in Virginia Tech’s 4-3 scheme. However, according to his NFL.com draft profile:

"Edmunds can play in any alignment at any linebacker spot and has All-Pro potential no matter where he lands."

That means early on he will have rely on talent and his measureables. His size, speed, and athletic ability are all elite, and there’s one other thing that makes him special. He has the ability to play inside or outside, due to his strength.

As he’s developing and becoming a smarter player, he can use his athletic traits that make him special to outplay offensive linemen. Once he gets a better understanding of the NFL game, he will become a force to be reckoned with.

Note: They currently have two second round picks, but will trade out of the second one to accumulate some picks later on in the draft.
