The University of Connecticut has had 40 players drafted by either the AFL or the NFL. In 1946, the first UConn player was selected to play in the NFL. More significantly to this year’s draft, only 11 UConn players have ever been selected in the first three rounds. Fatukasi would become the 12th and the 11th player on defense. (Donald Brown was the only offensive player selected out of UConn selected in the first three rounds.)

Fatukasi was the first player from Beach Channel High School in Far Rockaway, NY to play major college football, and he did so at UConn. He’s a raw talent, but the Jets coaching staff can get the best out of him.

He had 14 career sacks and 21 tackles for loss. According to Pro Football Focus Elite, he had a run stop percentage (defined as gaining 40 percent of required yardage on first down, 60 percent on second down, and the entire required yardage on third or fourth) of eight percent, which was much better than Muhammad Wilkerson, whom he will be replacing.

He a strong and quick player who knows how to use leverage to his advantage. With proper coaching, he will become a force alongside Leonard Williams.
