This is where the Jets add some depth to the defense. The Jets run an odd front for their base defense. So, they need a player that can have similar athletic attributes and pose a similar threat. B.J. Hill is the guy.

Hill needs to add strength, but an NFL strength and conditioning program will do that. That said, he already possesses an understanding of snap counts, is quick off the ball, and rather athletic for someone of his size. He has a nose for the football and is always around the ball.

He had 21 pressures in 2017, which is decent for an interior lineman. In addition to that, according to Pro Football Focus Elite, he ranked 21st in the nation in run stop percentage.

From a traditional statistical standpoint, he did well too. He had 57 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and he added three pass deflections. He’s a solid rotational player for the Jets, and with Leonard Williams, and the previously drafted Foley Fatukasi, he’d make an excellent addition to the rotation. It could become a dangerous three-headed monster at defensive tackle, and their combined efforts could help the back seven maintain coverage for longer, which will help the edge rushers get home.
