Jacksonville Jaguars: 7-Round 2018 mock draft in late February
Slot cornerback Aaron Colvin and middle linebacker Paul Posluszny are the Jags’ only major defensive contributors who will hit the open market this offseason. Jacksonville would obviously love to bring Colvin back into the fold, but Posluszny has likely seen his last days in Duval.
The Jags will primarily look to replace Posluszny with what they have on the roster. Most notably, Myles Jack could move inside on early downs. However, they will at least need to add depth to their linebacker situation.
In the sixth round, the Jags land Michigan linebacker Mike McCray. McCray is a tough and physical inside linebacker who defends the run well. He constantly plays downhill and will blow up lead blockers with ease. He has an obvious lack of speed and quickness that will limit him to early down and short yardage situations. However, McCray is a strong player who shows great natural instincts. He would be a nice depth addition for the Jaguars.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have one of the best defensive lines in the entire NFL. They are loaded with talent at both defensive tackle and end. That being said, they could certainly use some depth up front.
With their first of two seventh round selections, the Jags select defensive tackle Bilal Nichols in this mock draft. Nichols is a raw prospect who has not exactly played against the highest level of competition. That being said, he shows a quick first step and some explosive ability as a one-gap penetrator. He certainly has some upside and could grow into a strong contributor for the Jags down the line.
If the Jags lose Aaron Colvin in free agency, they will have a glaring hole at the slot cornerback position. While I would not expect them to fill that hole with a seventh round pick, Darius Phillips is an intriguing prospect who could contribute.

Phillips is a quick, aggressive and athletic cornerback prospect who shows fantastic ball skills. There is a lot to like about his overall game but he is unlikely to be able to play outside at the next level. He is a true slot cornerback prospect who also shows a lot of special teams ability. Phillips would be a great late-round snag for a team like the Jaguars.
