Which under-the-radar free agents make the most sense for the Chicago Bears in the midst of a crucial 2018 offseason?

Once again, the Chicago Bears are starting over. John Fox has been a lame duck head coach for the team these past few seasons, and now they are starting over with offensive mastermind Matt Nagy in charge. The hiring of Nagy as the Bears’ head coach will undoubtedly help with the progression of quarterback Mitch Trubisky.

Nothing is more important for the Bears than Trubisky becoming a legitimate franchise quarterback. However, if that is going to happen, the Bears need to give him help. This team has obvious needs on both sides of the ball and could easily lose important pieces in free agency. General manager Ryan Pace will have the cap space to work with this offseason, but he needs to tread carefully.

Pace has done a nice job of building through the draft in recent years, finding legitimate cornerstone pieces like Trubisky, Jordan Howard, Leonard Floyd, Tarik Cohen and Eddie Jackson. Continuing to hit in the draft will obviously be important, but the Bears will have to make smart moves in free agency as well. Finding undervalued gems like they did with Akiem Hicks in 2016 will be incredibly important for the Bears going forward.

Pace and company have the cap space to wild in free agency if needed. However, finding multiple under-the-radar free agents who end up hitting would obviously be preferred. Who are the underrated players on the open market who the Chicago Bears should be targeting? Let’s take a look at five interesting options.
