The Bottom Line

If Chargers want to compete with the Rams as the best in Los Angeles, the defense has to catch up to their offense. The Rams have a lot of speed at linebacker and the Chargers need to add some and they can with this draft. There are some holes that they need to fill outside of just defense, but if they draft a couple of impact guys, they could mask their other needs.

Free agency will play a major role in plugging holes along the offensive line and running back. General manager Tom Telesco must retain his guys, especially Tre Boston, to make sure that they retain their best players. There’sa a wat for them to improve in the draft and defense is the way to go. The combination of James and Nnadi will mean so much to their defense, so they’d be lucky to have them.

No matter what, however, the Chargers have to secure a quarterback for their future, because Rivers may be growing impatient with the lack of success and may want to venture elsewhere.  2018 is the draft that can help move the needle from a fringe playoff team to Super Bowl contender.
