An extremely powerful offensive tackle with good overall athleticism, there is a lot to line about Tyrell Crosby’s game. He was a major part of Oregon’s offensive line the last four years, playing both left and right tackle at an extremely high level. An absolute mauler in the run game, it is painfully obvious how impactful Crosby can be when watching him.

When Crosby gets ahold of a defender, he typically erases him from the play. He shows a quick first step and fantastic power at the point of attack. His overall speed is below average so certain reach blocks can be difficult. That being said, Crosby excels in the power running game, constantly opening up holes for the backs behind him.

His pass protection skills are not as elite as his run blocking ability (if they were, he’d be a top five pick), but he shows some promise in that area as well. Crosby shows an impressive knack for mirroring the opposing pass rusher. He has a strong punch and can typically keep up with speed. However, his footwork and technique do need some work in order to have consistent success at the next level.

In Nate Solder, the Patriots have a rock solid option at left tackle. He is a free agent this offseason, but I fully expect the Pats to bring him back. Also, when he is healthy, Marcus Cannon is a strong right tackle. That being said, both Solder and Cannon have struggled with injuries over the years and a lack of depth behind them has hurt this team in the past.

In Crosby, the New England Patriots would snag an exciting offensive tackle prospect who could be a strong immediate depth piece. Plus, he would be a natural starter replacement (probably at right tackle) when they end up needing one.
