We’re slowly approaching the 2018 NFL Draft, and the New York Giants are going to have to build their foundation from the ground up with the draft.

Let’s say the New York Giants were to cut Eli Manning, Brandon Marshall and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. That would leave them with a little more than $32 million in cap space, according to Spotrac, and that doesn’t even include the estimated rookie pool. If you do include the estimated rookie pool, it would leave them a little more than $22 million to spend on their own and other free agents all together.

The New York Giants don’t have much cap space to spend in 2018 free agency. That means one thing. It’s time to build through the draft. It’s actually a good things. Foundations should be built through the draft, and teams should add free agents to the puzzle.

That said, it is unlikely the Giants will cut Eli Manning this year. So, their cap situation is even more precarious. So, 2018 isn’t just a rebuild year. It’s a start from the ground up type of year. They’re going to have to find good building blocks with which to work from if they want to add a fifth Lombardi Trophy and ninth all-time NFL world title.

Here’s how it begins for the Giants with a seven-round 2018 mock draft.
