Ronald Jones II is a unique and rare prospect. I’d say his projections are 50 percent based on current ability and 50 percent based on the “P” word, potential. Let’s start with the “P” word that many fans dread.

He showed improvement in the pass catching department in 2017, and has the ability to become a great option as a pass catcher because of his speed. Right now, though, it’s a work in progress, but it’s trending upward. In 2017, he showed more ability to break tackles. That said, he will need to get stronger to be a three-down back in the NFL, but with an NFL strength and conditioning program, he should be able to.

As for right now, he’s an elusive back who has the ability to make people miss in space. He also has burst and can get to the second and third level quickly. That means, if there’s a linebacker, safety or corner in front of him, that person better wrap him up, because he will make them look silly and rack up chunk yardage in a hurry.

The combination of Jones II and Orleans Darkwa could become a dangerous one, once the offensive line gets settled. Jones has a lot of talent and potential that should make the Giants want to draft him. He’s the kind of back you can build your stable around.
