Now is the time for the Giants to start adding depth to the offense. Tate is what I refer to as a “go-get-it” type of receiver. Press corners will be licking their chops to face a guy like Tate, because he finds trouble creating separation, and his speed and quickness leave a lot to be desired for NFL scouts. However, one thing can’t be denied. He’s tough, and will fight through to get the ball no matter what.

Tate played through a shoulder injury in 2017, and teams will like that. Another trait that he has, despite his quickness and speed issues, is, once the ball is in the air, he will fight for the catch, no matter what. His drop rate of 5.9 percent (according to Pro Football Focus Elite) combined with his go get it attitude and size, makes him a prime candidate for red zone targets, and he could become a weapon there.

Despite his weaknesses, the Giants could use his ball skills, especially in the red zone. The Giants were 26th in the NFL in red zone touchdown percentage in 2017. So, adding another weapon there could only help that. in what has become an offense driven league, adding weapons on offense is key, and Tate can be that weapon that puts the Giants offense over the top.
